Solistes vedettes de la scène lyrique internationale, Diana Damrau et Jonas Kaufmann partagent depuis plusieurs années en duo une belle complicité artistique dans le répertoire intimiste du lied allemand. Après avoir chanté Wolf, Brahms et Schumann, ils retrouvent le piano souverain de Helmut Deutsch pour une sélection de chants de Mahler et de Strauss – deux compositeurs amis pareillement amoureux de la voix, figures emblématiques du XIXe siècle finissant. Piano inspiré et inspirant, timbres à la quintessence de leur maturité vocale et expressive : ce trio d’exception fait jaillir de ces joyaux du romantisme tardif la poésie à l’état pur.
