Wagner Siegfried-Idyll Brahms Concerto pour violon et violoncelle en la mineur op. 102 Sérénade no2 en la majeur op. 16
Fait plutôt rare dans la littérature concertante, Brahms fait dialoguer avec l’orchestre non pas un mais deux solistes. Plaisir décuplé d’échanges complices, de contrechants éloquents et d’élans grisants. Renaud Capuçon croise ses cordes avec celles de son frère Gautier Capuçon, souvent à ses côtés dans ce Double Concerto brahmsien, en concert comme au disque. La formation lausannoise retrouve son directeur artistique en face-à-face pour deux œuvres éminemment romantiques écrites pour deux figures féminines inspirantes du XIXe siècle musical : un « présent symphonique d’anniversaire » composé par Wagner pour son épouse Cosima à partir de son opéra éponyme, et une sérénade de Brahms pour orchestre à cordes dédiée à Clara Schumann, l’amie de toujours.
